April Showers

We had a fun busy Spring Break. We went to the Getty one day and had a crazy time trying to find some new flip flops for Nathan (his broke on the drive down there). The kids had fun being art detectives at the museum! Then we went camping at San Clemente. It was fun and a little interesting!

When we first got there, we were soooo cold! It was very windy and a storm was coming. After our foil dinners we played Candy Land (with real candy) in our tent, and didn't want to get out. So we went to bed early! While we were sleeping it started raining. Our tent tarp had two loops that we've never staked down before (never having camped in the rain). There was a thin slit, that was letting the rain into our tent right on Kevin, his sleeping bag, and pillow! He got right out and tied the tarp down a little better. For about 30 seconds it was raining REALLY hard and dripping on all of our heads--I guess we had a small hole in the tarp. Brooklyn said a prayer to herself that the rain would stop and it did right away! We slept pretty good after that, even though it rained off and on through the night. The next day was beautiful and sunny and cloudy!

We kept the kids busy with a little hike, playing on the beach, and looking for tide pools. Then our friends showed up and once the sun went down it was COLD again! We managed to play a game or two, stayed out much later than the night before, but as soon as we got into our tent, it started raining again. This time it rained really hard all night long it seemed (not quite as hard as that 30 seconds the night before.) We slept really well, but when we woke up we had wet puddles in the corners of our tent. We had another beautiful day on the beach.

The kids had so much fun climbing the bush-like-trees at the campsite and playing with friends. I don't know if we will venture to go camping when it is supposed to rain again though!

Brooklyn turned 8! Brooklyn is such a great big sister, she loves to read, she is so sweet and tries to do all that is good. She already loves going to Activity Days and is way excited to get baptized next month!

We decided to have a birthday party in Pixie Hollow, in honor of Brooklyn's favorite book series.

We played pin the wand on Tinker Bell. Also, Pixie-Pixie-Dust (aka Duck-Duck-Goose), they made wands and played freeze dance with them, they went on a treasure hunt all around Neverland to find the Pixie Dust that Captain Hook stole (which was Pixie sticks--the kids couldn't get enough of those!). They also got Pixie Dust (glitter) on their heads when (before) they came into Pixie Hollow, we put some makeup on them as they came in, and played guess the talent on your back with yes/no questions. I don't know if they were quite old enough for that last game, but it was fun anyway!

They had so much fun. We gave everyone a CD of Brooklyn's favorite songs which included many Tinker Bell songs, Tangled songs, Selena Gomez songs, and even a few Glee songs (I am rubbing off on her!). Brooklyn loves listening to this CD, of course, but also having her own is special!

Then to cap off our month, we enjoyed a wonderful Easter Sunday. The Primary children sang (and I got to direct them, one of my favorite things to do in Primary!), and the choir sang two songs. I play the piano, but got stuck playing the organ for the last song. I was pretty nervous about it, not having practiced on the organ too much, but I'm glad to report that it wasn't too awful!

The kids had fun at the Ward Easter Party the day before and with cousins on Easter, hunting for a million eggs! Now what to do with all that candy?
