Soccer

We tell the kids they can pick two sports a year. Hunter and Brooklyn really wanted to play soccer. We've done some city soccer before, but never AYSO. It was a good experience! Hunter played the jamboree group where they aren't on a team, just play with who is there.

 He enjoyed going after the ball with "the pack," but wasn't always too aggressive until the end of the season. Then he started to make several goals at each game!

 One thing he started to do was to protect the goal, which wasn't really allowed, but he was starting to "get" the game.

 His favorite part of soccer was scoring!

 Brooklyn was on the Blue Bombers, was lucky enough to be on the same team as her two good friends from church, and knew most of the other girls from school!

There were a couple girls missing on picture day, but here's their banner that I had fun designing.

 As her first year playing "real" soccer, Brooklyn improved a lot, learned the game, and had a lot of fun. I also "learned" the game, having never played myself, I was so lost at the beginning of the season.

 The last game she played in was so intense, the second playoff game of their day. They tied, went into over time, then still tied, went into penalty kicks. They won by one kick! Unfortunately the other two playoff games were scheduled for Sunday. Being that we had 3 LDS girls on our team, our team played with only 6 players (normally they have 7 on the field with 2 subs on the side). They lost both of those games, so overall we got 4th place. But we were so proud of our girls for how well they did and for deciding not to play on Sunday!
